Julia trained at Camberwell School of Art where she graduated in Fine Art. Her work is primarily based on exploring and drawing what she finds in her immediate environment and layering this with paper cuts and collage.
‘I look for the evidence of nature I can hold in my hand from my suburban garden to what I discover on my travels to the sea or the countryside. I find the overlooked, the fragile and the beautiful. Nature makes me a witness to events, creatures and objects I don’t always fully understand. My drawings and collections of things help me form a bridge between my urban living and the natural world.’
Julia lives in South London and draws inspiration from frequent trips to Whitstable and Suffolk, her limited edition screen prints of flora and fauna are an on-going Circus bestseller.
